I am on PvE5 on Yukon and I have a decently sized base in that stretches out in the air. You go up a 1x1x4 set of rooms, and then I have a 5x5x1 area which I have some stuff on. Is this ok? Just keep in mind that my 5x5x1 area is 4 ladder lengths off the ground.
Building rules state that you are allowed a maximum of 20 cubic units. This means that a floor surrounded by walls with a roof is 1 cubic unit. 5x5 is already over the building limit seeing as how this is 25 cubic units along with your 1x1x4 making it come out to 29 cubic units. You will need to downsize on your base or risk having it removed.
To add to this, however, if on the roof of your residency you decide to place things, it won't be removed. You do risk having easy access destruction to griefers though.
